Miscellaneous Ramblings       ...from the cobwebs of my mind SELECT A DATE BELOW TO JUMP DIRECTLY TO THAT RAMBLE   01.02.07                 02.16.07                                                                         Ramble Archive   FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2007     Steinke.us Redesign     So, Ned surprised me yesterday with a complete overhaul of his steinke.us website. He decided to go the automated-content-management-system route and is apparently quite happy with himself. I've actually been considering off-and-on recently switching over to an automated solution myself - I even tested a solution a few years back - but can just never seem to find the motivation to sit down and do it. Plus, while sites running these types of automated solution often look very nice and professional, in the past I've just not been all that thrilled with their functionality and level of customization. Maybe that's changed over the past couple of years, who knows. Maybe I'll check it out. Regardless, go over and give steinke.us a look-see and vote in the front page poll. I'm sure Ned gets a special tingle in his loins everytime someone votes for "better than crider.com". Hey Ned: The jerk store called and they're outta you!   Bears Choke Bigtime     Yeah, so... anyone watch the Bears choke in the Superbowl? All I'm gonna say about that game is that, I started the game drinking beer, and by the middle of the third quarter I had moved on to scotch. Nuff said.   Pitcher & Catchers Report     Yeah, baby! Pitchers and catchers reported to spring training this week. Suweeeeeet! Here I am getting all excited about baseball and the Cubs, only to open the sports page today to learn that Kerry Wood injured his ribs getting out of a hot tub. Seriously. Unbelievable. That guy has had so many freaky injuries that I swear the next one will be a fatal crushing by a falling meteor. Next up, after losing it in a freak pencil sharpener accident, Mark Prior's pitching arm replaced by panda. [return to top]   TUESDAY, JANUARY 02, 2007     Happy New Year!     I hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year Eve. Kim and I stayed home, made a nice dinner and watched the Packers beat up on the Bears. Ugh. That was ugly. The game not the dinner.   Archived Rambles     I moved the third and fourth quarter rambles off to the archive section (all two of them), so we're starting 2007 with a fresh front page. I guess I have to come to terms with the fact that I just don't have the desire to continually update this website with journal entries as often as I used to. I suppose I'll just sort of do updates once in a while, uploading photos and such. You know, when I started this site back in 1998, the terms "web log" and "blog" didn't even exist, yet a minority of websites - mine included - were laying the ground work by manually coding our sites and posting continual journal/log entries about whatever subject struck our fancy. Today, "blogging" is all the rage, and it's become so easy and automated that just about anyone can do it. And I'm tired of it.
